Jesus Made Him Whole

                                             LUKE 5:17-26

Jesus was teaching and there were Pharisees and teachers of the Law there from every village of Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. They were checking this Jesus out to see if what He was teaching was scriptural. There was a crowd all around the house. Some men were carrying a paralyzed man to bring him to Jesus. But because of the crowd they lowered him down through the roof in front of Jesus. This showed great faith on their part. Jesus seeing THEIR faith said, " Friend your sins are forgiven."

Does God see our faith? Yes He does! Remember, there were many Pharisees and teachers of the Law there. Jesus is really going to challenge them here. They began reasoning to themselves, " Who is this man who speaks blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?" Jesus perceiving their reasonings asks a great question. "Why are you reasoning in your hearts?" Not their minds but their hearts.

Our Lord is the God of hearts. Where is YOUR faith? Why don't you believe? Why don't you have faith like these men? Why do you go to your limited understanding first? I have been teaching, preaching, healing, and casting out demons in public. Let's see what happens here first." Which is easier to say? It is easy to say something that you don't have to prove. You cannot prove that his sins are forgiven. " But in order that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins," He said to the paralytic, " I say to you, rise, and take up your stretcher and go home."

Now when Jesus said Son of Man He was identifying with the prophets, especially Ezekiel. The Lord called Ezekiel son of man about 80 times. In Daniel 7:13,14 Son of Man was the Messiah. They could not mistake this reference that Jesus made of Himself. I'm going to prove right now who I am! " I say to you, rise, take up your stretcher and go home." JESUS IS AWESOME! At once He rose up and went home glorifying God. He KNEW where the healing came from.

Can you imagine experiencing that? If Jesus was blaspheming God, how could He heal him? Jesus is all knowing, all powerful. He is God. Yet He focused on a cripples soul and body and made him whole. Hallelujah! Is God good? Yes He is! Are you praying that the Lord will heal people in our midst? You should be. He hasn't changed. They were all seized with astonishment and began glorifying God. They also knew that the healing came from the Lord God. What a great scene!

                                                   THINGS TO CONSIDER

By faith, have you brought anyone in front of Jesus?

Does your reasoning get in the way of your faith?

Do you glorify God when He acts on your behalf?

Give Him praise for what He has done!

If you have never accepted Jesus as Savior and Lord, set yourself down in front of Him today! Repent of your sins and let Him forgive your sins and make you whole.
